TFMR and Being a Bereaved Mum/Midwife and Training Health Professionals
Hayley Manning & Catherine Mousley present Time To Talk TFMR with their guest Steph Wild. Steph is a the founder of Beyond Bea Charity, a practising midwife and the mum the Bea , who she lost due to TFMR.
In this episode, Steph tells us how she began her training to be a midwife at 18 and undertook to support bereaved parents from the beginning. When she became pregnant in 2017, the unthinkable happened while at her 20wk anomaly scan. After a further MRI scan, she and her partner were told that their baby was missing parts of her brain. At 23 + 4 days Steph decided to have Bea's heart stopped. A decision which is harrowing in itself and one that she didn't want to have to make.
Steph talks about being cared for by her colleagues, about being 'on the other side' as a trained and practising midwife and how she continues to work with pregnant women. She also tells how she set up Beyond Bea Charity to fill the enormous gap in bereavement training for health professionals and what she has in store to support those who are going through/have gone through baby loss.
